In September, while we were still enjoying the tail end of 2018’s amazing long hot summer, I photographed Judith and Chris’ wedding in Poole’s Guildhall. If you saw the blog post for Helen and Alex’s wedding earlier in the year then you’ll already know that I love photographing in this room. The light from the huge windows, the high ceilings, chandeliers, balconies and architectural staircases. The Guildhall has got it all for us photographers.
Suffice to say with the sun shining and the wedding late in the day, I was looking forward to getting some great photos both in the Guildhall and afterwards through the old town and on Poole Quay. When I met with Judith and Chris before the big day they said that they’d had some different things planned including that Chris would be wearing a pretty fancy jacket.
I didn’t really appreciate what they meant until I arrived at the venue and saw Chris meeting and greeting the guests.
Look at it. With your eyes. Look at the glory of that jacket.
A wedding in a great location with great weather in early autumn light is good enough, but when you can add in personalty and a bit of fun it’s easy to see that it’s all going to come together beautifully.
And come together it did!
After dancing out of the ceremony, we went for a stroll through the old town, and onto Poole Quay to get some portraits with the harbour in the background. Through it all, I could see how happy Judith and Chris were to have tied the knot. This is why I love doing this job!
