In March, one of the first people who agreed to be part of Handmade Dorset, before the project even had its name, was Darron of Sven Cycles. I was excited to make the trip down to Weymouth to see them.
Sven Cycles was started in 2012 by Darron Sven Coppin who was later joined Andrew ‘Mog’ Mogford. Together they handcraft custom bicycles of stunning quality. Up close, you get a real sense of not only the craftsmanship that has gone into making the bikes but also the level of thought that has gone into their design to make bikes that are not only beautiful but practical too.
You don’t have to take my word for it either. Sven Cycles are multiple award winners, most winning an award for their Pathfinder Adventure Tourer and coming in as runner up in the public vote at Bespoked, the UK handmade bicycle show. The workshop is also decked out with multiple rosettes from previous years.
Thanks to Darron and Mog for their time and letting me into the workshop. It was really great to see such a fine product being made in Dorset.
